    Communications Officer

    Lillian joined IGCP in Sept 2020 as a communications officer. Lillian is a Rwandan national and holds a bachelor’s degree in in Mass Communication from Uganda Christian University. Lillian is in-charge of IGCP’s effective communication to both internal and external publics, keeping them updated with information on mountain gorilla conservation in the region.

    Anna has been with the International Gorilla Conservation Programme since 2010, and became the Director of the coalition programme in July 2013. She is originally from the United States and trained in forest resources and conservation as well as public communication, and now leads an accomplished team of conservationists in their work to conserve the critically-endangered mountain gorillas alongside partner organizations and institutions.

    A multinational traveler who often appears at all IGCP offices in the space of a week, Wellard was born in Burundi and raised in Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree, with a major in Business Administration from Catholic University of Eastern Africa in Nairobi, Kenya. He leads monitoring and evaluation of the Programme along with planning and reporting.     Though coming from an academic background, Altor has embraced the conservation field work with enthusiasm. He coordinates IGCP’s strategic engagement with government and civil society partners to support the conservation of mountain gorillas in Virunga National Park, and with outreach to Kahuzi-Biega National Park in support of the conservation of the population of Grauer’s gorillas.

    Henry Mutabaazi

    Henry Mutabaazi

    Uganda Country Coordinator

    Henry Mutabaazi joins IGCP today 1st August 2017 as Country Coordinator for IGCP in Uganda. Until recently, Henry worked as Climate Change Specialist for Chemonics International Inc. implementing USAID’s Feed the Future Uganda Enabling Environment for Agriculture Activity. Previously, Henry served at Nature Uganda as Project Manager for Echuya Forest Conservation and Livelihood Improvement Project and before then he was a District Forestry Officer for Kisoro District in Uganda. He has worked and lived in the Bwindi Mgahinga landscape for the last 19 years and has good understanding of the area. Henry holds a Masters of Science degree in Environmental Resource Management from University of Essex in UK, a Post Graduate Diploma in Project Planning and Management,a Bachelor of science degree in Forestry, and a Diploma in Education. He definitely brings vast experience to the IGCP.

    Benjamin Mugabukomeye

    Rwanda Country Coordinator

    Benjamin joined IGCP in 2010 after a comprehensive career with the Rwanda Development Board. He knows the day-to-day rigor necessary to protect mountain gorillas and to work with communities that depend on and work with the park. He began his work in conservation as a gorilla tracker and tourist guide in Volcanoes National Park and most recently as Warden in charge of Law Enforcement for Volcanoes NP. He coordinates IGCP’s strategic engagement with government and civil society partners to support the conservation of the mountain gorillas in Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda.
